Anderson Engineering, a leader in the manufacture of customised stainless steel processing equipment, is proud to announce its 60th year in the industry.
The anniversary marks a celebration of innovation, quality, outstanding workmanship and professionalism in the market place. “For sixty years, we have built a solid reputation of world-class engineering solutions, growing into the company we are today, with unlimited potential,” says Hans Coertse, Owner and Managing Director.
Flexible and adaptive from the very beginning
The company was initially founded, in 1958, to manufacture stainless processing equipment for the dairy industry, with their very first client being Clover in Durban. Within a few years the company developed a number of new and innovative solutions for dairy clients. These “firsts” in the South African market were the start of a company with a passion and culture for seeking new and better solutions in process manufacture. The company’s full Turnkey capability is now regarded in the industry, as being of the highest precision and quality, and they are the “got-to” engineering business for finding solutions to the most complex of process manufacturing challenges. Anderson Engineering has had the privilege of being involved with some of South Africa’s most high profile businesses and projects and for more than 30 years, has spread it’s geographical footprint into Africa, as it’s long-standing clients, continue to move and expand into various markets beyond the South African borders.
Culture of innovation
The current owner and Managing Director, Hans Coertse, has been at the helm of the company for the last 22 years and has been an integral part of the culture of innovation and world-class engineering. His deep passion for finding better solutions for clients’ manufacturing challenges constantly stretches his team. The company has always aspired to delivering the best, customised solution for a client’s need, while delivering a diverse range of projects, on time, on budget with minimal disruption to production. Over the years the business has received a number of accolades. More recently, in 2016, the business was crowned the winner of Product Development, and runner up for Export Achievement, at the Sassda Columbus Stainless Steel Awards.
Fostering long-term client partnerships
One key to the company’s success has been the ability to build long-term relationships with clients. The business has delivered manufacturing solutions to many of South Africa’s largest food, beverage, chemical, dairy, cosmetic and pharmaceutical manufacturers. A number of these clients have worked with the company for several decades. The business ascribes to the philosophy that it’s the way you treat your clients that makes the difference.
Anderson Engineering employs over 60 full time staff. The team comprises qualified engineers, draughtsman and technicians, with years of practical experience. They also have their own workshop personnel, consisting of Machinists, Boiler Makers, Coded Welders, Fitters and Electricians, who are responsible for the fabrication of the equipment. They are proud to have continued an active apprenticeship scheme for the last 14 years and have successfully trained and qualified over 15 apprentices.
Well positioned for a bright future

This year more than ever, the company is celebrating these values together with its many accomplishments, legacy, and momentum, as it looks toward a bright future. Although the company is celebrating a milestone of 60 years, the face of the company is very young. “We have consciously made an effort to employ talented young professionals into the business, as well as train and nurture young people who show promise,” says Hans. 2018 finds the company ready for the opportunities ahead and committed to outstanding client service and design excellence.
