Anderson Engineering, a Pietermaritzburg based company that manufactures customised stainless steel processing equipment, has won the 2018 KZN Exporter of the Year Award in the small business category. The award was presented to Hennie de Jager, the Managing Director of Anderson Engineering, at the prestigious Awards Ceremony held at the Durban ICC Arena on the 4th of October 2018. The awards are an initiative of the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in partnership with Transnet Port Terminal.

The awards aim to recognise and celebrate exporters in this province, as well as highlight the success of local businesses and to stimulate the growth of the economy by encouraging other business to strive for similar achievements. Musa Makhunga, the President of the DCCI said: “KwaZulu-Natal exports a wide range of goods and services and exports play a pivotal role in maintaining and developing sustainable economic growth in KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa.”

Anderson Engineering were also a finalist in the Africa and manufacturers category but it was in the small business category that they clinched the winning title. Hennie de Jager, Anderson Engineering’s Managing Director said: “We have had the privilege of being involved with some of South Africa’s most high profile businesses and projects and as our long-standing clients continue to move and expand into various markets in Africa, we too, have spread our geographical footprint beyond the South African borders. We have a unique culture of flexibility and adaptability and I believe this has stood us in good stead when facing some of the challenges we face in the export markets. We are extremely proud to be recognised for our achievements in export and would like to thank the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) for the great work they do to recognize and boost manufacturing in our province.”

Through the supply of Anderson Engineering’s Stainless-Steel processing equipment and process know-how solutions, these businesses have been producing products, which are well known and used daily in virtually every South African household.
