At a glittering banquet in Fourways, Johannesburg on the 25 October 2018, Anderson Engineering was awarded two prestigious awards from 189 entries submitted by 53 companies.
The winning product development award was presented to Anderson for the new Anderson Engineering Combo Emulsi Mixer (ACE Mixer), for innovating with a breakthrough design, which improves productivity in the food and beverage industry.
The 2nd runner-up prize was awarded in the Engineering category for the companies work on the recently completed National Biproducts Institute (NBI) Expansion Project, and was awarded in recognition of using stainless steel in all it’s forms, demonstrating a faultless example of precision and clinical engineering.

Speaking at the event, Sassda Executive Director John Tarboton said; “This year, perhaps more than ever, awards of this nature are essential as they celebrate the innovation, strength and durability of the South African stainless steel industry, despite the buffeting winds of change that have beset our country in the two years since the last awards event was held. Despite these challenges, entries ranged from locally manufactured stainless steel corrugated pipes to world-class architectural masterpieces to feats of engineering and inspiring stories of transformation and growth amongst our members”.
Anderson Combo Emulsi Mixer (ACE Mixer)
The Anderson Combo Emulsi Mixer (ACE Mixer) has been specifically developed for the homogenization of products with poor miscibility and/or high viscosity. The ACE Mixer has a three-stage multi-chamber modular hygienic design that allows for product and process flexibility. The heart of the working principle is that of a rotor/stator generating high shear and creating a stable homogenous product. Ingredients are introduced directly into a low-pressure pre-mix dispersion chamber which draws and then propels the various ingredients directly into the high shear region of the mixer. Finally, the product is discharged through a recirculation pipeline back to the processing vessel by means of an impeller. It is ideally suitable for products such as mayonnaise, creams, sauces and ointments which either have poor miscibility or have high viscosity. The ACE Mixer combines years of experience in emulsification, effective technology and innovation to develop a machine capable of quick batch times of a high-quality emulsion.
